What makes EFT so different?

No blaming. Really!

In EFT therapy, we understand that neither partner is to “blame.” Rather, we get caught in what we call “The Cycle.” This a pattern related to each person’s deeply rooted relationship style. In EFT therapy there isn’t generally a “bad person” to find.

It’s rooted in science.

EFT therapy is based in neurobiology. Additionally, it's informed from the science of human attachment. This gives us context for everything we do in the therapy room.

EFT Therapy is active.

I’ll show you how to repair the arguments rather than just letting them happen. I will be with you every step of the way supporting you through the challenges and cheering you on in your success!

Does every argument you have seem to turn out the same way?

Maybe you’re in the midst of a transition.

As a couples therapist, I have experience helping couples navigate issues all across the lifespan. Whether it’s making the “commitment decision”, retiring, or facing the “empty nest” for the first time.

Recovering after an affair.

Affairs and other relationship injuries can leave a relationship reeling. It can be hard to know how to move forward. EFT couples therapy can help. With this approach, couples can repair and restore their trust and connection.

Or feeling like you lost that “spark”.

Maybe you feel more like roommates than lovers. My approach as an EFT therapist is proven. It can help couples reconnect physically and emotionally.

Growing or blending your family.

Going from couple-hood to co-parenting brings ups and downs. EFT couples therapy can strengthen your bond during this challenging time.

Maybe arguments have gotten physical.

You don’t have to be ashamed. Sometimes words just fail you. I offer compassion and experience in helping couples who have been in your shoes.

Perhaps you’re wondering if you’re both still committed to this relationship.

Deciding whether to end a relationship is a painful process. You don’t need to do it alone. I can provide tools to help you talk it through in a safe space..

Every Race.

Every Culture.

Every Relationship.

Every Person.

In EFT therapy we work together to get you out of “The Cycle”…but what is it?

A graphic depicting a cycle often present in couples pursuing online marriage counseling, as well as marriage counseling in person. The graphic reads, “The Cycle adopted from Scott Wooley, PhD. Pursuing partner. Primary behavior: Criticizes/attacks.…

“She made us feel as if we were her only clients.”

Even families get caught in “The Cycle.”

If you’re like many folks, you’d like to have a better relationship with your parents as an adult. But, it sometimes seems like you are caught in a pattern and you don’t know the way out.

Or perhaps you’re the parent of an adolescent. Your relationship to your child doesn’t look anything like you had hoped it would. You’ve tried really hard on your own, but you can’t seem to find a way to reconnect.

I apply the same proven EFT concepts in working with family dynamics. EFT family therapy can help them have the relationships they long for.

No relationship is picture-perfect.

Our connections deepen when we feel loved and accepted “in spite of ourselves”. We (humans) usually believe that we must be beautiful/handsome, calm and always in a good mood (perfect) in order to be worthy of being loved.

Surprisingly, the very opposite is true. The burden of carrying around that expectation actually leads to distance. Consider Japanese pottery whose cracks are repaired with gold. Imagine allowing our vulnerable, messy, real selves (imperfect) to be seen by our partners. And, they can accept these flaws and cracks, that is what seeds our intimacy. That is what I help people to do. And “honey that’s the real door prize!”
